I recently did the numbers for retirement and figured ten years at $20,000 a year. That's $200,000 for ten years of retirement. I'm thinking I can manage off of $10,000 a year since I've managed to live off of it several times in the past.
I'm currently busy putting all of our things away, and while I'm at it I'm getting rid of things. I'm boxing up things that no longer fit, we don't use or need. There are electronics that don't work, books we've already read or outgrown, clothes that don't fit and a ton of what probably qualifies as junk in this place. Amazing what has accumulated since starting over from scratch a few years ago.
I am working on reducing spending which means that we begin by learning what we have on hand that we can use. I have a number of storage needs such as toys, jewelry, office products and everything else under the sun. It is nothing that can't be fixed by things that can serve multiple purposes. I am in need of storage which means that instead of buying it at the moment I am using what I have on hand.
I remember a time when recycling was a staple in my life and believe that it should be again. It's good for the environment and good for my wallet. I am in the process of saving money and attempting to get out of debt yet again. It is going rather slowly as everything I manage to set aside for something gets used for something else .
So that means I have to start over and come up with a solid plan for each aspect of the year. One that is simple to follow that can be acted on repeatedly.
