I heard the predictions I got the call from the call from the school. No school on January 17, 2018 do to the chance for snow in the forecast. I saw the list of closures. I continued to be in denial. No way it would snow here less than six months after I got home. Wrong.
I woke up to snow and ice. Lovely. I was not a happy camper. I was cold and stuck upstairs for the day. That in itself is not a bad thing, it just meant that I had a reason to stay home until time to get up the next day. By noon schools were announcing they would be closed the next day because of the road conditions. Yes, things shut down for less than an inch of snow.
It is not unusual here, we do not have the roads deiced. The snow (when it is snow and not sleet) or the mix of snow and sleet will hit the roads, melt and refreeze. Icy roads, hazardous driving conditions. It stayed below freezing for the majority of the past two days. There is still ice in places that are shaded. Some of it melted and refroze.
Check out the view on the front of my apartment building after the melting snow froze as it was dripping from the roof.

I only find it pretty in pictures the cold itself was something I could have done without. Fortunately we are in a slight temperature rise over the weekend.
