It has been several years since we had an updated diagnosis for Theresa. Recently we got one, and now I'm getting a second opinion. Sit back and I'll tell you why.
The diagnosis was a mile long in addition to the Autistic disorder we were already aware of. The appointment was for an update, she did not complete testing. This makes me question the diagnosis in its entirety.
ADHD- she explained that the differences in an autistic brain and an ADHD brain can be seen on scans. They were not done. I know for a fact. I will not medicate her for ADHD especially off of a guess.
There was separation anxiety diagnosed. She did not want to go with a stranger. I find that annoying to declare that. It was not taken into consideration that not only has there not been anyone for her to go off with, but she is not allowed to go with people I do not trust. It was not noted that she has had sleepovers in the past. Nothing was taken into consideration that did not fit into the box.
We had some behavior disorders diagnosed. They were based on the mile long forms that several of us filled out. One time instances of amusing behavior were taken as sensory issues, and what I do not allow was not taken into consideration.
Her pediatrician's office is scheduling an appointment for a second opinion consultation. I'm hoping this one will either confirm the diagnosis or find that symptoms were diagnosed. Either way I will get a second opinion before we continue with a plan of action for her.
