I am looking through old blogs and finding posts that relate to my current situation. This post from October of 2012 reflects how gas prices were at the time. Currently they are about $2.55 a gallon on average.

Gas prices are anywhere from $3.42 to $3.69 in my area. The Shell station is currently at $3.49, and it is rather close to me, even at that price it is cheaper than the closest station. It has another advantage, it is located close to the Winn-Dixie, which is offering fuel perks to lower the price. These fuel perks are my latest obsession. I am determined to lower the amount that I spend on gasoline, especially since a tank a week without them can drastically dent my budget.
I have been watching the Fuel Rewards network site, and I am amazed every time I see that someone paid a penny per gallon for gas. I would love to do that without going into debt to purchase groceries. My Winn-Dixie card is tied to my Fuel Rewards card, that way when the Fuel Rewards program finally gets here I can double my rewards. This makes the price even lower at the pump. The best I've managed is 30 to 45 cents off per gallon.
Every time you spend $50 at Winn-Dixie before tax you get 5 cents off per gallon up to twenty gallons of gas. It's easy to spend $50 at the grocery store even if you only buy the cheapest of every item on the list. It doesn't matter here if there are a dozen coupons, and nothing but sale items. Groceries are expensive and feeding three people for a week takes money. The amount of stress I feel trying to make the grocery list with the tantrums, snoring and constant interruptions is immense. I just want to run away from home to do it most days.
OK so we're all clear, my new obsession is Fuel Perks.
