Questioning Yourself
When those who you care about won't listen when you try to prevent them from causing further injury you begin questioning whether or not it's worth caring anymore. At what point do you stop worrying about those that seem not to care if or how their actions make you feel? Do you walk away quietly or do you attempt to express yourself first?
What could possibly be the reasons behind someone doing things that you asked them not to without considering your feelings? This is where assumptions are dangerous.
Explanation
The reasons behind the stubborn could be as simple as they aren't comfortable accepting help or they don't want to cause anyone any problems. Some people are simply to full of pride to ask for help, or accept when it is offered without them asking at all. There are those rare people who know that you aren't as together as you want to appear to the world and will do whatever it takes to prevent you more harm.
Understanding It
When you get past your own hurt feelings and realize that you are not capable of ceasing to care about these people you brace yourself for more hurt. When the ones you love like family are doing things that you think might cause them harm you suck it up and say you did all that you could do and move on...
That is until the next time they need you because you know your heart, and it's just stubborn enough it won't allow you not to care. That is until they do something to screw you over.
Until next time, I hope you find the ones who you care for are doing all they can to ensure they aren't doing more damage to themselves.
Do you stop caring to prevent being hurt? Or do you care in spite of the fact you know that you are vulnerable to being hurt?
